Most of my ten product page rules rest on my judgment. So I say so.

I took each of my ten page rules back to the published research and the platforms’ own documentation. A few have controlled support, two have Google rules behind them, and most rest on my judgment and house style. Each rule says which.

Say what it is. Facts as text. Schema for Google Shopping.

The rules

All 10 rules. Three shown in full.

RULE 1 OF 10 · EXPERT PRACTICE

Product identity

The H1 and the first lines of the page name the brand, the product type, the variant, the size, and what it’s for.

Why I hold it
  • A person skimming starts at the top of the page, and so does any reader parsing it in order. When the first lines settle what the product is, everything after them has context.
  • The formula is house style. It’s the fastest way I’ve found to make a page unambiguous. This one is my judgment, and those are my reasons.

2 steps to apply this are in the full Guideline.

RULE 2 OF 10 · EXPERT PRACTICE

Key facts

A scannable text block of the hard facts shoppers filter on, high on the page. Size, count, form, the headline ingredient, dietary fit.

Why I hold it
  • Shoppers filter before they read, so the facts they filter on belong where a glance finds them, not spread through paragraphs.
  • Text is what gets parsed. A badge image carries no text to parse.
  • This one is my judgment, and those are my reasons.

2 steps to apply this are in the full Guideline.

RULE 7 OF 10 · MEASURED | EXPERT PRACTICE

FAQs

Five to eight FAQs, default seven, with answers of 40 to 80 words leaning short. Each one does work nothing else on the page does. FAQs are visible text. FAQPage schema isn’t needed and isn’t banned.

What backs it
  • In the November 2025 version of E-GEO, the FAQ rewrite (“Add an FAQ”) finished mid-pack of fifteen: +0.06 positions untuned and +1.20 after tuning, against +0.71 and +1.61 for the top rewrite. One ranker, in a simulation. In the July 2026 revision it averaged +0.05 across five rankers, in a revision where most rewrites did not reliably beat a simple prompt.E-GEO, November 2025 version · July 2026 version
  • The range is house style, and these are my reasons. Seven answers the real questions on most pages. Past eight, the answers repeat what the page already says. Forty to 80 words answers a question without an essay.

The short version

Say what it is, then the facts.

A name that settles what the product is, key facts a glance can find, and schema scored as commerce data. What each page is asked to do, and what I’ll claim it does, is set out rule by rule.

A rule, and an honest tag on what backs it

The grade is the honest part. The rule is the point.

What clients get

Three rules and one myth of ten. Clients read the whole PDP Guideline on app.tymoo.ai, updated quarterly. When the research or the platforms move, I update the rules and say when.
